This movie was unable to bust out of the gates to an incredible opening weekend like many people thought it would. While 49 million is nothing to scoff at, it marks one of the lower openings by Pixar. Luckily, the film came out on wednesday and that allowed it to bring in an additional 22 million before the weekend. With a lot of positive word of mouth this is also likely a film that will have staying power in theatres
#2- Justice League
Week #: 2
Weekend Gross: $ 40,730,000
Total Domestic Gross: $ 171,546,643

While on paper a 55-60% dropoff from weekend one to weekend two is typical for a superhero movie as a lot of the die hard fans go opening weekend. However, the holiday weekend should have been able to slow Justice League's decline a little more than it did. With a 56% drop, it is the only film in the top 10 to drop more than 30%. The future is not looking great for this franchise.
#3- Wonder

Weekend Gross: $ 22,300,000
Total Domestic Gross: $ 69,440,202

The surprise of last weekend is back again with a very solid box office return. Positive word of mouth and a family friendly story around the holidays have given this movie some legitimate staying power, as we have now seen it top 20 million twice. I don't know what the budget of this film is but I would assume it has already been more than made back.
#4- Thor: Ragnarok

Weekend Gross: $ 16,791,000

Despite being out for longer and based on less popular superheroes, Thor: Ragnarok dropped less than half of what Justice League did. This movie shows that when you make a really good movie, especially one with superheroes, people are going to go see it. This movie has also made over 500 million worldwide which puts its overall total just under 800 million dollars. Well done Thor.
#5- Daddy's Home 2

This movie is clinging on to the holiday season, as it is the only reason this movie took such a low drop. I still don't understand why so many people are going to this movie with all of the other good films to see but they are, and Daddy's Home 2 will hit 75 million domestically sometime this week.

This movie took such an insanely low drop and just barely missed knocking Daddy's Home 2 off of the top 5. But it just missed so instead of talking about it for being in the top 5 I'm talking about its impressively low drop. I find it a little bit weird that the box office totals continue to be so similar for this film and Daddy's Home 2 but luckily this film has the highest total for now.
#9- Roman J. Israel, Esq.

Weekend Gross: $ 4,515,000

I had to include this just because of how awesome that percentage change is. The jump from 4 to over 1600 theatres certainly helped this film and while I can't speak on how good the film is, it looks pretty interesting and I like the team that made it. So well done Roman J. Israel, Esq.
Lady Bird and Three Billboards also had solid weekends but didn't do anything really worth talking about.
