Top 9 Tuesday- Anticipated Fall Releases

The end of the summer movie season is quickly approaching and with that comes the beginning of the fall/ winter season. Whether it's largely anticipated blockbusters or movies gearing up for an awards run, this fall looks to have a lot of good stuff for us to see. So with that in mind, this week's Top 9 Tuesday will be counting down my nine most anticipated movies from now, up to the end of the year.

Much like last time, I'm going to start things out with some honourable mentions.
The Disaster Artist- James Franco acts and directs this film based on the making of Tommy Wiseau's The Room. While the movie this is based on isn't by any means good, The Disaster Artist looks like a very funny spoof of it that I look forward to seeing.
It- The first trailer for this remake of It got everyone talking and the talking hasn't stopped. This Stephen King adaptation looks incredibly creepy and a lot of fun as well. Hopefully I'll be able to see it as soon as I can.
The Greatest Showman- Hugh Jackman is one of today's most respected actors and in The Greatest Showman he seems like the perfect man to play P.T. Barnham. This movie looks extremely fun and inspiring, and I think will be one of the top films of December.
Coco- My last honourable mention is Coco, and while I think the promotional material has been decent, the studio is what has me excited for this movie. Pixar is constantly pumping out incredible animated films and I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

#9- Murder on the Orient Express
After watching Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Hamlet I've begun to be a big fan of his work. He directing this film and acting in it alongside a supporting cast that includes Daisy Ridley, Willem Dafoe, Josh Gad, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Johnny Depp. Branagh's talent in front of and behind the camera, as well as the incredible cast he has assembled has me eagerly awaiting this Agatha Christie adaptation. Not to mention, the trailer has this looking like the most fun mystery film of the year.

 #8- The Snowman
I'm a big fan of crime thrillers surrounding serial killers. While I doubt this will be any Silence of the Lambs, this movie looks like a very intense thrill ride and the mystery already has me hooked. The first trailer was very interesting and the talents of Michael Fassbender and Rebecca Ferguson give me the confidence that this could be the top intense thrill ride of the fall season.

#7- Stronger
When I first heard that there would be another movie about the Boston Marathon bombing I was skeptical, as Patriot's Day was released late December of last year. Stronger however, seems to be telling a completely different story as it follows a man recovering from injuries he sustained from the bombing. The trailer continues to make me tear up every time I watch it and Jake Gyllenhaal is one of my favourite actors, so this is a movie I cannot wait to see.

#6- Suburbicon
After getting nearly no information on new Matt Damon films for a while, the trailer for Suburbicon was released. Matt Damon is my absolute favourite actor and he seems to be at the top of his game for this film. The movie is directed by Hollywood great George Clooney and is written by him and the Coen brothers. The team behind it and the great first trailer has Suburbicon near the top of my list.

#5- Thor: Ragnarok
Opening up the top five is the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor: Ragnarok. Taika Waititi is the director of what seems to be one of the more different MCU movies. His unique style is all over this colourful over the top movie that looks like it will be a lot of fun. The movie is also being described as an outer space buddy cop movie with Thor and the Hulk. The only thing stopping this from being higher on my list is that I'm not a big fan of the first two Thor films. However I love the MCU, I like Taika Waititi's style a lot, and the legendary Jeff Goldblum makes and appearance, how can you not be excited.

#4- Battle of the Sexes
Emma Stone is coming off of her first Academy award win, and she may be throwing herself right back in the running with this role. Stone and Steve Carrell face off as Billy Jean King and Bobby Riggs in the true story of their 1973 match. This movie seems like a ton of fun, and looks like it'll be full of great acting, especially from Stone, who looks unrecognizable in her role. Battle of the Sexes is no doubt a movie I am incredibly excited to see.

#3- Kingsman: The Golden Circle
The first Kingsman film was a surprise hit in 2015, full of funny moments and fun, over the top action. One of my favourite directors Matthew Vaughn is back helming this sequel that looks to be as much if not more fun than the first. Most of the key players from the first film are back, and are joined by the likes of Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, and Halle Berry. The Golden Circle will introduce us to the American spy organization and will likely be loads of fun.

#2- Blade Runner 2049
Blade Runner came out in 1982, and brought an incredible world to life, giving us a new gritty type of sci-fi. Thirty five years later and we're getting a sequel, directed by one of the top directors working today, Denis Villeneuve. Harrison Ford is back and is joined by Ryan Gosling in what looks to be a beautifully shot masterpiece. If this movie can capture even half of the magic of the original it'll be a hit and I can't wait to see how it furthers the world Ridley Scott created in '82.

#1- Star Wars: The Last Jedi
This movie is likely going to be at the top of most people's lists. The Force Awakens breathed new life into the Star Wars franchise and hopefully The Last Jedi can continue building this new trilogy. All the characters, new and old are amazing and I cannot wait to see where this next journey takes them. Although it'll be hard to see Carrie Fisher on screen for the last time, I am a die hard Star Wars fan and I'll be seeing this movie the first chance I can.

Did I miss any movies that you're really looking forward to? If so, let me know in the comments below, and have a great Top 9 Tuesday.
